Personal profile

Alexey Sobolev is a dean of Chemistry Department at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University and an Associate Professor in Lomonosov MSU. He earned his MS degree in Chemistry from Lomonosov MSU and PhD degree in Inorganic Chemistry in Lomonosov MSU as well. After graduation he remained as a teacher in Chemistry Department of Lomonosov MSU, and gained the position of Associate Professor at Radiochemistry Division in 2011. He was bachelor and MS supervisor of more than 15 students in MSU and SMBU, and after obtaining of the “Associate Professor” academic degree he supervised 2 PhD students in MSU.

His research interests include inorganic and pure chemistry, material sciences, solid state physics and solid state chemistry, radiochemistry, quantum chemistry and nuclear physics. He has strong experience in device construction projects from design to implementation, and strong analytical background; hands-on knowledge of various physical methods of compounds analysis – X-Ray, M?ssbauer spectroscopy, and inorganic synthesis incuding high-pressure – high-temperature methods.

Teaching experience covers various chemistry and physics disciplines for graduate and postgraduate students: general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, radiochemistry, nuclear resonance methods.

As a scientist he had published as the first, and corresponding coauthor of more than 140 research academic papers including Journal of the American Chemical Society, Inorganic Chemistry, Chemistry of Materials, Journal of Physical Chemistry C, Physical Review B, etc. and performed more than 175 lections at scientific conferences.

Since 1997 he gained 5 Grants by George Soros (subsequently grants of the Moscow government) for young Graduate and Undergraduate students (1997 - 2002); 5 awards of O. Deripaska’s grants for talented young scientists  in MSU; 8 times awarded by Lomonosov MSU for scientific achievements (2016 - 2023). He was also the leader and principal investigator in numerous grant projects (list of selected is below):
